Reconnecting ~ Summer Break, Tornadoes, Family Time

I haven't blogged in a very long time. I am well aware of this and awareness has been brought to me. The reason? Life. Life is the reason.

Yes, I Facebook, I Instagram, etc., but those things take seconds. Those things chronicle a passing thought, a quick note, a second of my time. Blogging takes heart, depth, and many rough drafts.

My last post happened to be a spa day in April. Oh, how I could use that spa day right now.
But, April? Holy shit, the time has passed!

We finished off the school year with chaos of course! What other form of finishing is there? Chaos seems so appropriate for pre-summer vacation preparation.

Our summer vacation - was more chaotic than the end of the school year could have ever possibly been. A tornado ran through our yard at the beginning of June and trampled over our beautiful farmstead, eating hundreds of trees in its path. Along with our poor trees, it took many other things - however, the house still stands and we are all still kicking. (some screaming...)

Moving on - After the tornado fiasco, we spent two months fighting with the insurance company and trying very hard to get a couple camping trips in between cleaning out our poor fallen trees and demolished yard. We did manage a few, but for having a new camper - a few was not enough.

Now, on to the school year!
My sweet little monkey girl is in Kindergarten! And my boy is in 4th grade already! It seems like it's all happening too soon! They are both loving the school year and are very happy to be out of the house. (I don't blame them, there's too much to do here)

I was SO excited to start this new adventure all by my lonesome, however, it didn't quite go as planned. I had envisioned days on end wandering the grasslands with a camera and tripod in tow, reading by the creek, picnicking in the woods, and finishing the inside of our house that has been sadly neglected due to outdoor tornado cleanup.
Instead, I have spent it working non-stop in all different spaces and places including my own. From construction to painting, photography to wood-burning, etcetera and so forth, I haven't had time to do the things my wee little heart desired when the school year began. But, it has been fruitful and having money that I've earned on my own feels pretty damn wonderful.

Someday I'll get my sh*t back in order...until then - the chaos will resume shortly after I close my browser and I put on my people pants.
