Home Spa Day - Banana Hair Mask Disaster
I try to do a home spa day about once a week.
Usually, when it comes to my hair, I stick with the same mask. Mainly consisting of different warmed oils and a few spices.
Normally it turns out nice and thick and fluffy with a ton of shine - without the blow dryer.
Today...I tried mixing in mashed banana and some egg yolks. The egg yolks were fine. I've used them before and they are a great additive for that extra shine and they are full of protein.
Well - that damn banana. I mashed the ever-living hell out of that banana but did not puree it. Maybe that's where I went wrong. Maybe if I'd have pureed it, I wouldn't have ended up with impossible to remove banana hair boogers.
Those banana hair boogers completely defeated the purpose of the hair mask in the first place.
After 6 shampoos, I still have banana boogers in my hair.
I finally got my comb through it by spraying it down with heat tamer spray. Not something I like to use every day since it does some damage to my sensitive skin.
After getting the comb through it and SOME of the banana boogers out, I used my bristle brush to try and break down the bigger boogers.
And after it dried I spent an hour trying to pick out the rest of them.
So, the moral of the story is - no bananas in the hair mask unless it is MASSIVELY pureed into frothy LIQUID. NO smashed banana. No. Naughty banana.
On a side note - In a regular mask (hold the boogers) the ginger powder, coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, and a few drops of lavender E.O. do amazing things and leave no trace of boogers.
