Mother's Day! The River Boat Fishing Expedition ~ North Dakota

My husband and kids took me out on a little riverboat fishing expedition for mother's day this year.

The weather was perfect and the wildlife was crazy!

We saw a river otter, two muskrats, deer, beavers, I caught two big catfish, and the tiniest little turtle I have ever seen!

Mother's Day! The River Boat Fishing Expedition ~ North Dakota

Some years we go camping (this is common), yet other years we shake it up with road trips, boat trips, Sheyenne National Grasslands explorations, and more.

Our Mother's Day trips are my favorite. Of course, my kids don't always get along, and the husband gets pretty grumpy about that, but it is still a great day even if I'm the only one having fun.

I love to get out and explore the world around me. Eastern North Dakota may not be the most popular place in the US to visit, but I can tell those of you who believe that we live in a cornfield - you're looking in the wrong places.

Our hills may be small, our fields are endless, however, there are so many beautiful places around us to see. You just have to know where to look for them.

What did you do for mother's day this year?
Do you have a tradition? Or does it change from year to year?
