Crocheted Poncho - Blue and White

FINALLY!! I got my camera to upload some pictures!

I wanted to post this poncho last week...but due to technical difficulties - I could not.

I made this poncho for my daughter, while I was trying to use up some yarn I found in my basement storage room. I originally planned to add a hood, but the slouchy collar looked so much cuter.

Finished poncho above!

My cute little poncho model!

And my goofy little poncho model!

How I made this - I measured from her shoulder down to her wrist, which left me with 50 stitches.

I crocheted enough rows to make a rectangle (that formed a perfect square when folded in half) and then I started on the second rectangle. Using this "awesome" image below that I found on pinterest.com I attached the two rectangles together as shown and then following the arrows pictured I closed off the poncho...this took me a while to figure out because I was only half way through my first cup of coffee the morning I decided to finish this...it really isn't that hard.

After I closed off the poncho I started on the slouchy collar - single crocheting all the way around the neck hole (skipping a few stitches to tighten the hole), then on the second row - I switched to double crochet and kept going until it was the length I wanted it.

I added some fringe all the way around the bottom and it was finished!

~ My daughter refers to it as her "arm-less blanket sweater".

The picture above is sized for an adult (in inches) and can be used to make a poncho out of ANY material.

I have some black velvet that I will be playing with next for myself and may also try to add a belt hole so it's more fitted around the middle.

YAY! Poncho complete.
