My Pallet Wood Floor ~ Re-purposed Flooring

My Pallet Wood Floor ~ Re-purposed Flooring. Hard work, but affordable flooring. Unique flooring ideas.

This is the beginning of a very large project. We decided that the cheapest way to go for flooring is to use pallet wood. Not only is it free (from our source) but it's beautiful!

These planks hold SO many different colors that come out even more once they're sealed.

Greens, purples, reds, browns, blacks, etc. It looks amazing with our hickory cabinets.

This flooring will run throughout our living room as well and meet up with an area of carpet where our couches are.

Each pallet has to be broken down carefully.
Each plank needs the nail heads removed, then planed, then cut to length, cut to width with the table saw and planed once more before they can be laid down and air-stapled to the subfloor.

We chose to go with staples because they're not that noticeable, they're durable, and I hate working with glue.

To finish the floor, I'm using a gym floor sealant with an amber tone. It really brings out the blacks and matches the hickory very well.

It takes a LOT of time and hard work, but it's free! That's the best part!

We have a VERY limited budget to finish our house. After the roof and the siding, we're about tapped out on remodeling funds. This is where repurposing comes in.

Soon I'll get the pictures up of our kitchen window, which is in the process of being "stoned". I'm using these leftover shower tiles from my mother's bathroom remodel to border the window:

So far, finishing the kitchen has been a cheap yet exhausting project. BUT, it looks better and better each day which drives me to the finish line!

Back to work on the floor now,
Have a great week!
